EION Wireless Announces
New Extended Frequencies for LibraPlus 5860
5.x GHz Product Available for Licensed and License-free Applications
OTTAWA, Canada – July 14, 2010; EION Wireless, a Canadian manufacturer of broadband wireless products, today announced frequency suppost for its LibraPlus 5860 product line. EION's LibraPlus 5860 Point-to-Point-to-Multipoint products have already been granted certification from the FCC for operation in the Upper (5.725-5.825 GHz) UNII band. The LibraPlus 5860 extended frequency supports the Lower (5.15-5.25 GHz), Mid (5.25-5.35 GHz) and the emergin Worldwide (5.47-5.725 GHz) U-NII frequency bands for deployment in Africa, Asia and other countries subject to local telecom regulatory licensing.
The extended frequency support of the LibraPlus 5860 translates to more flexible deployment options for operators. Because of the wide frequency range, operators will have the ability to easily locate unused channels in the crowded unlicensed band without carrying multiple hardware types in inventory and in the field. The LibraPlus 5860 supports narrow band 5, 10 MHz and 20 MHz channel sizes for deployment in noisy urban areas, and a 40 MHz turbo channel for high throughput operation.
The LibraPlus 5860 is engineered with EION’s proprietary EPPS (EION, Protocol, Protection, Speed) technology for an ultra-secure connection that optimizes the maximum amount of bandwidth available for point-to-point applications. EPPS technology was developed using the latest in encryption and security methods to prevent malicious and non-registered users from eavesdropping or intercepting signals.
The LibraPlus 5860 Point-to-Point (PP) family includes two product types, Rapid Deployment (RD) and Extended Range (ER). The RD model is packaged with an integrated antenna to save on time and cost during installation. The ER model is equipped with an N-type antenna connector for connection to an external antenna for long-range applications. Delivering a throughput of up to 60 Mbps, the LibraPlus 5860 PP is a competitive alternative for backhaul applications.
The LibraPlus 5860 Multipoint Product (MP) family has three product components: Base Station Access Point (AP), Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) and, Long-range Customer Premises Equipment (LCPE). For easy installation at the end-user location, the CPE comes with an integrated antenna, while the AP and LCPE models are housed in rugged die-cast enclosures with an N-type connector for connection to an external antenna. From a single AP, the MP family provides a broadband coverage area of up to 30 km (18 miles). With its long range of distance coverage, NLOS capability, high spectral efficiency, large net throughput capacity, and rich feature-set, the LibraPlus 5860 MP family is ideal for large metropolitan area network deployments.
